Dictation Training for TOEIC Listening

Dictation is slow, uncomfortable, and the fastest way to find out exactly which sounds you cannot hear.

The method

Play a short clip, write down every word you hear, replay up to five times, then compare against the script and mark every gap.

Clip length matters

Twenty to forty seconds is ideal. Longer clips turn dictation into memory practice instead of listening practice.

Read your own mistakes

Most gaps come from linked sounds and reduced function words, not unknown vocabulary. Noticing that pattern is the point of the exercise.

FAQ

Three times a week is plenty; it is intense work.
